Carl R.
Shellenberger
October 14, 1940 – April 21, 2026
Carl Robert Shellenberger, 85, of Richfield, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born October 14, 1940, in Richfield, a son of the late Reno and Hazel A. (Leitzel) Shellenberger. On December 11, 1965, he married the former Judy A. Spriggle, who survives. His passing breaks a marital union of 60 years.
Carl was a 1959 graduate of Middleburg High School. He then obtained an Associate Degree in Accounting from the Thompson Institute in Harrisburg.
He retired from Celotex Corporation as controller of the Sunbury factory. He was the consummate professional who took his job responsibilities very seriously and strived to be the most accurate, first reporting location to corporate headquarters.
Carl was a former member of the Lost Creek Golf Club in Oakland Mills.
He was a humble gentleman who had interests in golf, pride for his lawn, financial markets, maintaining clean vehicles, income tax preparation for his family and friends, and love for his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by two sons, Carey L. of Selinsgrove, and Curtis L. and his fiancé, Lisa Nava, of Selinsgrove; 3 grandchildren, Blake of New Holland, Brinley of Selinsgrove, and Brant of Selinsgrove; one sister, Mary Roth of Carlisle; one brother, Harold Shellenberger of Richfield; and one brother-in-law, Harold Moyer of Millerstown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Phyllis (Edward) Minium, Pauline (Herman) Benner, Doris (Raymond) Sheaffer, and Shirley Moyer; one sister-in-law, June Shellenberger; and his most loyal four-legged companion, Dexter, for whom he fondly discussed and remembered walking on Snyder Street every day.
Carl’s family would like to thank Geisinger Hospice of Selinsgrove for the care they provided him the last several weeks, especially Glenna, Rachel, Johanna, and Tammy.
Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carl’s name can be made to the Danville SPCA, 1467 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.
