Caroline L. Goodling

Caroline L. Goodling, 90, of Hummelstown, entered eternal rest on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill, PA.

Caroline was born on June 13, 1936, in Oriental, Juniata County, a daughter of the late Ralph and Pearl (Strawser) Messimer, Sr. Early in life, she married J. Glen Goodling, who preceded her in passing on November 12, 1996.

Caroline graduated from Millerstown High School. She was employed as secretary at the PA Department of Education for many years.

She was a long-time member of Dressler’s Ridge Church and attended Trinity United Methodist Church while residing in Hummelstown.

Her favorite hobby was gardening, and she enjoyed her flowers.

Caroline is survived by her sisters, Marlene L. Goodling, Loretta Culver and her husband Curtis, and Darlene Stahr and her husband Herman; sisters-in-law, Shirley Messimer, Janice Messimer, and Emma Messimer; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Ruth Ann Otto.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in passing by her brothers, Roger Messimer, Marlin “Tank” Messimer, Henry Messimer, and Ralph Messimer, Jr., and a brother-in-law, J. Earl Goodling.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Dressler’s Ridge Church Cemetery, 4180 Dressler’s Ridge Road, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, with Pastor Kenny Cousar officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Caroline would appreciate memorial contributions in memory be forwarded to Dressler’s Ridge Church at the address above or Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 W. Main Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
