Charles Reynolds Markle, Jr., 85, of Millerstown, entered into rest on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill.
He was born September 13, 1940, on the family farm in Millerstown, a son of the late Charles Reynolds, Sr. and Vida Inez (Sarver) Markle. On July 3, 1964, he married the former Georgia Lyter, who survives.
Charles was a 1958 graduate of Greenwood High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1966.
Charles worked at Weis Markets for 20 years as a produce manager. He was also employed as a road master for Greenwood Township and as a Chesapeake Bay technician for the conservation districts of Juniata, Cumberland, and Perry counties.
He was a member of the Liverpool American Legion Post 364 and the Susquehanna Valley Sportsmen Association.
Charles enjoyed tinkering around on the farm, genealogy, and spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his beloved wife, he lives on through his three children, Ginger Taylor, Scott Markle and his wife, Nicole, and Jeannette Nitzenberger and her husband, Eric; 5 grandchildren, Mitchell Markle, Morgan Markle, Adam Taylor, Meghan Solomon, and Sarah Solomon; a brother-in-law, Charles Maneval; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three siblings, David Markle and his wife, Mildred, Pauline Rhoades and her husband, Robert, and Ruth Maneval.
Family and friends are welcome from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Reward United Methodist Church, 609 Perry Valley Road, Millerstown, PA 17062, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Paula Beaston officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charles’ name can be made to the Millerstown Ambulance League, P.O. Box 34, Millerstown, PA 17062.
