Gary Robert Cook, 77, of Liverpool, entered eternal rest on Friday, February 27, 2026. Gary was born on August 31, 1948, in Liverpool, a son of the late Robert Jack and Carrie Leona Cook. On July 15, 1972, he married the love of his life, Dolores J. (Penica) Cook who survives.
Gary was blessed to have many skills he didn’t know he had. He was employed for over 50 years as a diesel mechanic. Along with his expertise as a diesel mechanic, he was a skilled carpenter. He and Dolores completed many renovations in their home. Often times, taking the walls down to the studs and starting from scratch building one room at a time.
He was an avid Latimore car fanatic. His enjoyment of Latimore included being an active member of the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing held at the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds in York Springs, PA, where he would attend car shows at Latimore, make new friends, and enjoy the time with old ones. Along with building and taking part in Latimore activities, he enjoyed collecting vintage ice cream scoops, racing radio-controlled cars, go-karts, mini sprint cars, and vintage cars, especially his 1957 Blipper. He was also a member of the Liverpool American Legion.
In addition to his loving wife, Gary is survived by brother, Van (Brenda) Cook; sister, Brenda Swartz; nephews, Bobby (Colleen) Cook, Brian (Jamie) Swartz, Brady (Melissa) Swartz, and Charlie Cook; brother-in-law, Joseph Penica; sisters-in-law, Rosalie (Ken) Kiefer and Loretta (Grant) Myer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in passing by his parents; sister, Sandra Cook; in-laws; and furbabies, Donner, Blitzen, and Bibbins.
