Gladys Evelyn Moyer

Gladys Evelyn Moyer was born October 19, 1937, on the family farm west of Freeburg, the youngest child of J. Lee and Frances (Ferster) Moyer.

She passed away on October 21, 2026, at Brookline Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Mifflintown.

Gladys was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Church in Freeburg for most of her life and later attended the Freeburg United Methodist Church. For many years, she taught Sunday school in the nursery room.

She graduated from Selinsgrove Area Joint High School in 1955 and spent most of her employment career at the Freeburg Shirt Factory. She was able to provide good quality shirts, at very reasonable prices, to her family.

An avid baker, Gladys provided many tasty treats, notably her homemade bread and fudge, to family and friends. She was known for her keen memory of birthdays and provided each celebrant with appropriate cards and baked goods. She also gardened well into her senior years and shared her produce generously.

Family was very important to Gladys, and she took great delight in paying special attention to her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to those nieces and nephews, she is survived by her brother, Raymond Moyer.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Faye (Mengle) Moyer, Glenn and Nancy (Mengle) Moyer, and Donald and Naomi (Reichenbach) Moyer; one sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Nobel Leitzel; and one sister-in-law, Goldie (Ritter) Moyer.

Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2026, at George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Joan Dodson officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Freeburg.
