James R. Hile

James (Jim) R. Hile, 83, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at The Manor at Penn Village in Selinsgrove.

Jim was born on November 17, 1942, in Port Trevorton, a son of the late Phenie and Beulah (Kratzer) Hile. On May 6, 1967, he married Ethel (Watts) Hile who preceded him in passing on April 7, 2004.

After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Army, where he served until February 1962. For many years, he was employed as a mobile home truck driver at Poloron Homes. After his retirement from there, he worked at Brady Construction and Hayes K. Stahr Excavating.

He was a member of the Liverpool American Legion Post 364 and served for several years as past president of the Oriental Sportsmens Club.

Among Jim’s enjoyments were fishing and playing cards. His most precious moments were spending time with his daughter and grandson.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Kathy Messimer; grandson, Dylan Messimer; numerous nieces and nephews; and his grandfurbaby, Taz.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded by his siblings, Lester Hile, Marlin Hile, Warren Hile, and Dorothy Swartz.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, with Pastor Paul Adams Officiating.

Interment will immediately follow at Dressler’s Ridge Cemetery, Susquehanna Township, Mt. Pleasant Mills. Military honors will be accorded graveside by the Liverpool American Legion Post 364 Honor Guard.
