Judith Ann “Judy” (née Tuma) Kuebler, 84, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania entered into eternal joy with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.
Judy was born on June 1, 1941, in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Charles Norbert Tuma and Florence Mae (née Harrison) Tuma.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and animal lover, Judy lived a life filled with family, quiet generosity, faith, and deep compassion for all creatures.
Judy was a graduate of Haverford High School (class of 1959) and Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove (class of 1964). She dedicated ~38 years to teaching at Green Ridge Elementary School in the Cumberland Valley School District, Mechanicsburg, where she touched countless young second graders with patience, kindness, and dedication to education.
Judy married the Rev. Peter H. Kuebler in 1963, sharing 54 loving years until his passing in 2017. Together, they supported his pastoral ministry across Central Pennsylvania Lutheran congregations, including Christ Lutheran (Filey’s) in Dillsburg, Trinity Lutheran in Camp Hill, Zion Lutheran in Marysville, Evangelical Lutheran in Waynesboro, St. John’s Lutheran in Steelton, and St. John’s Lutheran (Barner's) in Liverpool. Their home was always warm and welcoming, a place of hospitality, stories, and shared faith.
Judy cherished her beloved dachshunds—Shatzi, Schnitzi, WidgyBear, PuddinBear, TeddyBear, GretelBear, and WidgyBear II—with all her heart. A devoted animal lover, she held a special place for all creatures and was extremely generous. She delighted in donating to animal welfare causes and extended her kindness personally to families and individuals in need.
She is survived by her four children: Peter H. Kuebler II, Andrew S. Kuebler and his wife Evelyn, Michael S. Kuebler, and Lian M. Kuebler; granddaughters Lily and Brittany; great-granddaughters McKenzie, Isabella, Rosalyn, and Claire; and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Peter H. Kuebler; her mother, Florence Mae Tuma (d. 2005); and others dear to her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA, or animal welfare organizations such as the HOPE (Hounds of Prison Education) program of Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance (CPAA), pairing rescue dogs with inmates for training and rehabilitation, or the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation (viewing) on Thursday, March 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 117 W. Keller St., Mechanicsburg. On Friday, March 27, there will be a viewing at 10 a.m., followed by a service of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mark, with the Rev. Marleen Griffith-Stull officiating.
