Marlin G. Shope, 79, of Liverpool, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born June 14, 1946, on the family farm in Susquehanna Township, a son of the late George M. and Maggie Mae (Goodling) Shope. On February 9, 1964, he married the former Connie Varner, who survives.
Marlin attended East Juniata High School.
He worked at several road construction companies, as a heavy equipment operator.
Marlin was a member of the Oriental Sportsmen’s Club, and the Pennsylvania Highway Union.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. After retirement, he always looked forward to spending time at “the Butcher shop.”
In addition to his beloved wife of over 61 years, Marlin is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Donald Brubaker, Sr., and Lindy and William “Bill” Williams; 5 grandchildren, Adam Williams and his wife, Savanna, Jennifer Shope and her husband, John Longenecker, Nicole Groninger, Paul Brubaker and his wife, Mary, and Donald Brubaker, Jr. and his wife, Victoria; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; four siblings, Maynard Shope, Sr., Marie Shelley, Bertha Lamey, and Irene Troutman; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Mahlon Shope, Catherine Cluck, Mildred Strawser, and Viola Chubb.
Family and friends are welcome from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2025 at George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, PA 17045, where a funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, with Pastor Rob Paire officiating.
Burial will follow in Dressler’s Ridge Cemetery.
