Orpha Lengel April 12, 1932 – March 2, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Orpha Lengel, who departed this world on March 2, 2026, in the same manner she lived her life—peacefully and quietly. Born in the quaint town of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Pennsylvania, on April 12, 1932, Orpha was a beacon of love, care, and resilience, qualities that she generously shared with everyone she met.

Orpha was the beloved daughter of Foster and Elva Hoffman, who nurtured her with love and instilled in her the values that guided her throughout her life. She excelled academically, graduating as Valedictorian from Freeburg High School, a testament to her dedication and intellect.

In her personal life, Orpha embodied warmth and hospitality. Always the gracious host, she delighted in filling her table with food and laughter, welcoming company with open arms and a generous spirit. Her love for gardening and the tranquility of fishing in Canada were among the simple joys that enriched her days. She also had a profound love for travel, embracing the world with curiosity and wonder.

Orpha's professional journey was marked by her compassionate nature as she dedicated many years to giving home care to others, a role that she cherished deeply. Her nurturing spirit and commitment to helping those in need were the hallmarks of her career.

In 1998, Orpha married Rev. Stuart Lengel, embarking on a journey of companionship and shared faith. Together, they attended Joy Lutheran Church in Florida, while Orpha remained a lifelong member of Arbogast Church, where she found solace and community.

Her legacy is lovingly carried forward by her children: Roger and his wife Mary, Cheryl and her husband Timothy, and Christopher and his wife Courtney; stepchildren, Arthur and his wife Vickie, Susan and her husband Alan, and Lucille; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Though predeceased by her son Scott, Orpha's enduring love and memory will remain a guiding force in their lives.

A viewing to honor Orpha's extraordinary life will be held on March 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Arbogast Lutheran Church, 456 Arbogast Church Road, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, with Rev. Hugo Schroeder, III, officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and grace.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Richfield Rehabilitation Home and the many friends who offered support, sent cards, and visited Orpha during her final days. Your love and care brought her immense comfort and joy.

Orpha Lengel's gentle spirit and unwavering love will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. May we honor her memory by embodying the same compassion and generosity she showed to the world. Rest in peace, dear Orpha, your light will forever shine in our hearts.

The arrangements have been entrusted to George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA.
