Richard “Rich” E. Sarver, 95, of Liverpool, entered into rest Friday, June 13, 2025, at home.

He was born February 1, 1930, in Liverpool, a son of the late Charles Edgar “Eddie” and Minerva Ida (Chubb) Sarver. On July 14, 1995, he married the former Alice “Kaye” Hammaker, who survives.

Rich was a 1948 graduate of Liverpool High School.

He began his career working at Swanner & Baisley Construction. He then worked as a construction foreman for James Julian, Inc. for over 20 years, before retirement. His last job was in Lancaster, where he helped build a barrier wall.

Rich served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he served as a combat medic.

He attended Blessed Hope Bible Church, and was a member of the Liverpool American Legion, and Paxtonville VFW.

Rich enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending public sales, collecting Fenton glass, carpentry, working with his hands, and planting flowers, especially tulips.

In addition to his wife of over 30 years, he is survived by one daughter, Lorie Matson; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Tina Rhodes; one grandson, Juddson (Donna) Herr; two step-grandsons, Matthew (Christina) Whitmyer and Joshua (Rachel) Rhodes; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Roush; and one brother, Wayne Sarver.

In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Shirley (McDonald) Sarver; one son, Steven Sarver; one son-in-law, David Matson; one sister, Carolyn Stevenson; and one brother, James “Jim” Sarver.

Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2025, at George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 606 N Front St., Liverpool, PA 17045, where a funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor John Mallonee officiating.

Burial will follow in Liverpool Union Cemetery, with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Rich’s name be made to Liverpool EMS, P.O. Box 258, Liverpool, PA 17045.
