Ruth A. Witmer

Ruth A. Witmer, 78, of Bloomsburg and formerly of Mt. Pleasant Mills, entered eternal rest on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Maria Joseph Manor Emmanuel Center in Danville, PA.

Ruth was born on January 7, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant Mills, a daughter of the late Norman and Dorothy (Apple) Lefferts. On October 14, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, Larry E. Witmer.

Ruth was a 1965 graduate of Middleburg High School. She was employed as the office manager at Chiropractic Care Center in Bloomsburg, retiring after over 25 years of service.

She enjoyed crafting beautiful and unique greeting cards with her Stamping Up products. Ruth’s greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren. She would often share their life events and accomplishments with her friends and neighbors.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Larry; two sons, Dr. Eric Witmer and his wife Dr. Alicia Witmer and Dr. Christopher Witmer and his wife Michele Witmer; grandchildren, Dr. Londyn Witmer, Gianna Witmer, Gannon Witmer, and Reese Witmer; and her precious fur baby, Bentley.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in passing by her sister, Caroll Frances (Lefferts) Uema and her brother, Ralph Lefferts.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bloomsburg Christian Church, 107 Duessen Drive, Bloomsburg, PA 17815, with Pastor Eric Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions in loving memory of Ruth be forwarded to Friends of the Bloomsburg Library, “Dementia Support”, 225 Market Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
