Sarah I. Troup

Sarah I. Troup, 88, of Richfield, entered into rest Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Richfield Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born October 3, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant Mills, a daughter of the late Milton and Stella (Kemrer) Kerstetter.

Sarah met her future husband, Robert “Bob” F. Troup, at the Oriental fair where she gave him a stick of gum. According to Bob, it was “loaded with Love Potion #9.” The two were married on Saturday, May 23, 1953 and the following Tuesday, they left for Kentucky, where they spent their honeymoon, as Bob was enlisted in basic training for the Army. Bob preceded Sarah in death February 7, 2024.

She worked briefly at Furman’s Foods and the Fremont Shirt Factory, but mainly worked in the family orchards.

Sarah was a lifelong member of Arbogast Lutheran Church, where she looked forward to helping make Easter eggs with her husband, Bob.

She enjoyed walking in the woods, gardening, flowers, spending time with her family and church family.

Sarah is survived by four children, Steve Troup (Nancy), Kathy Ebright, Dan Troup (Karen), and James Troup (Stacy); 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Leona Heintzelman.

In addition to her parents and her husband of over 70 years, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Doug Ebright; 9 siblings, Norman Kerstetter, Beatrice Kerstetter, Grace Roush, Emma Simontin, Roy Kerstetter, David Kerstetter, Bernice Moyer, Robert Kerstetter, and Russell Kerstetter, in infancy; two brothers-in-law, Norman Troup and William Troup; and her mother and father-in-law, Leona Miller and Frank Troup.

Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2025, at Arbogast Lutheran Church, 456 Arbogast Church Rd., Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, where a funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow in Arbogast Lutheran Church Cemetery.
