William A. Apple, 84, of Selinsgrove, entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at home, with his loving wife and family by his side.
He was born September 15, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant Mills, a son of the late Emory and Mary (Leister) Apple. In 1962, he married the former Anna L. Hackenberg, who survives.
William was a 1959 graduate of Selinsgrove High School.
He began working at 12 years old, for Selinsgrove Dairy, delivering milk to homes in Selinsgrove. He later worked for American Home Foods, Deitrich’s Dairy, and Butter-Krust Baking Company. After retiring from Butter-Krust, he drove as a courier delivery driver for Zimmerman Motors.
William was a member of Sound of the Gospel Church in Selinsgrove.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing church softball earlier in life, watching any Philadelphia sports teams, and Penn State.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, William is survived by three children, Allen (Rondalynn) Apple, Cathy Boyer, and Debbie (Mark) Ritchie; three grandsons, Michael (Autumn) Lauver, Eric Ritchie, Daniel Ritchie; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Faith (Bob) Compton; and one sister-in-law, Louise Apple.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dale Boyer; two brothers, Laverne (Bessie) Apple and Darvin Apple; one sister, Shirley (Shelley) Brubaker; and his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Blanche Hackenberg.
Family and friends are welcome from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2026, and again from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Sound of the Gospel Church, 50 Gospel Way, Selinsgrove, PA 17870, where a funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, with Pastor Kenny Cousar officiating.
Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery and Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in William’s name can be made to Sound of the Gospel Church, 50 Gospel Way, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
