Barbara E. Shellenberger, 70, of Richfield, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville with her family by her side.

Barbara was born on April 25, 1953, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Harold and Patricia (Ratchford) Emeigh.  On December 4, 1976, Barbara married the love of her life, Robert L. Shellenberger.  They recently celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Barbara was a 1971 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, a 1973 graduate of Geisinger School of Nursing, and a 1976 graduate with honors of Carlisle Hospital School of Anesthesia.

Barbara was employed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for over 40 years at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.  A career she loved passionately.  She was known for being attentive, compassionate, sincere, and loving with her patients.  Many times she would hold their hands assuring them everything would be ok.

She was a proud member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist and an active member of Mountain View Community Church.  Barbara loved reading, listening to music, fishing, and trips with Bob always in search of the best cup of coffee.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Robert L. Shellenberger; children, Steven M. Shellenberger and Megan N. Shellenberger; siblings, Susan Emeigh, Timothy Emeigh and his wife Tammy, Jason Emeigh and his wife Rebecca, and David Emeigh; sister-in-law, Patricia Chubb and her husband Warren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in passing by her parents.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, with Rev. Dr. Pusey Losch officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in Richfield Union Cemetery.
