Honey Sexton

Sherrill, NY

Honey Sexton, 73, of Sherrill NY, entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 13, 2023, peacefully with her daughters Devra and Juli by her side.

Honey was born September 12, 1949, in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of late Gerald and Julia (Adams) Cutway.

As Honey is thought of, many will be reminded of her kind heart, generous spirit, committed work ethic, and the love she shared with her family.  She spent most of her working career at Oneida Ltd Silversmiths, but worked in the retail, service, and manufacturing segments throughout her life.

Honey was a beautiful soul who loved and was loved by her family, friends, and neighbors! “Nana” or “Nanny NY” was one of her proudest titles.  Honey had a special place in her heart for her neighbors and their children.  She was also known for her comforting spirit and generosity of helping others, no matter the circumstance.  Some of her greatest philosophies were “everyone deserves a chance”, and to “always be kind”, “Keep that smile on your face no matter how hard life gets” and it’s never goodbye, but rather “tootles”. Honey will be greatly missed for her genuine spirit and pure heart that have been felt by many.

You could often find Honey in the kitchen as it was one of her favorite places. She loved to cook, canning, bake, and simply create some many flavorful dishes to share with others. Many hours were spent in the kitchen during canning season, canning anything and everything. When not in the kitchen, she loved spending time with her five sisters. “Sister Days” & “Bitches in Stitches” were days to reminisce, craft & create, eat, and laugh till their stomachs hurt. Honey enjoyed traveling the world, especially her Europe trip with her daughters, visiting London, Paris, and Amsterdam. She loved spending time on her deck socializing with her close friends and neighbors.  Honey always enjoyed a good laugh, music, dancing, and bringing good cheer to those in her circle.

Honey will also be remembered for her love of all animals no matter their shape. She was often the “go to gal” for anything pet related. She loved not only her furbabies, but her families and all those in the neighborhood. She could be seen handing out an extra treat off her porch or on her walks to all the furbabies around. It wasn’t unusual to find a dog treat in her jacket pockets “just in case”.  She rescued many animals over the years with no limitations.  Mostly dogs and cats, but birds, fish, and turtles too.

Honey is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law- Devra and Dennis Carr and Juli and Rick Naegele; one grandson, Calvin Carr; five granddaughters and their companions, Brittanie Lamb and Jay Tournear, Bridgette Lamb and Dylan Ponto, Kaylee Lamb and Tom Vanluvanee, Alexes (Lexi) Lamb and Devin Clemens Sr.,  and Kiara (Sissy) Carr; seven great-grandsons, Logan Tournear, Devyn Tichko, Dominick Ponto, Cameron Sterpe, Colton Sterpe, Brody Vanluvanee, and Devin Clemens Jr.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Geri Cutway, Bill Cutway, and Joe and Chrissy Cutway; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean Potton, Catherine and Dale Crumb, Mary and Jim Williams, Judy and Bob Utter, and Pam and Jim Clements; many nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews; and her precious furbabies, Lily and Joey.

Honey is preceded in passing by her loving son, Blake Lamb Jr who passed away December 3, 2020; her parents, Gerald and Julia; her brother, Gerald Cutway; her sister-in-law, Jill Cutway; and her numerous pets that she had rescued and loved over the years.
